Which wrist should you wear a crystal bracelet on?

It is the question we are asked most often in the studio. The short answer: the tradition gives each hand a role, and comfort matters more than rules.

The left wrist: receiving

In most traditions the left side is the receiving side. Wear a bracelet on the left when you want to take in a stone’s quality: rose quartz for love, amethyst or moonstone for calm, black obsidian or tourmaline for protection.

The right wrist: giving

The right side is the side of action. Wear a bracelet on the right when the goal is something you do in the world: tiger eye for confidence in a meeting, pyrite or citrine while you work on money, carnelian for energy.

If you are left-handed, or wear a watch

Some people reverse the rule for left-handers. Others keep it the same. Try one wrist for a week and notice how it feels. A bracelet you actually wear every day does more than one that sits in a drawer because it clashes with your watch.

Making it last

Our bracelets are strung on strong elastic. It lasts longer if you:

  • roll the bracelet over your hand instead of stretching it wide
  • take it off before bathing, swimming and sleeping
  • keep it away from perfume and sanitiser, which dry out the elastic
  • cleanse it with smoke or moonlight rather than water

Crystals are sold as spiritual and decorative items. What is written here describes tradition and our own practice in the studio. It is not a substitute for medical, financial or professional advice.
