Amethyst bracelet: benefits for sleep, calm and clarity
4 min read · Updated 9 October 2026

Amethyst is the purple quartz that has been worn against drunkenness, nightmares and a racing mind since the Greeks named it. Today it is the first stone people buy for sleep and calm. Here is what an amethyst bracelet is traditionally worn for, and how to wear and keep it.
What amethyst is worn for
- Calm and anxiety relief. The crown and third-eye stone, worn to quiet an over-active mind.
- Sleep. Amethyst at the bedside or on the wrist at night is the traditional remedy for restlessness and bad dreams.
- Clarity and intuition. Meditators wear it to deepen focus and trust their inner sense.
- Protection for sensitive people. With black tourmaline, it is the stone empaths rely on.
Which hand, and what to pair it with
Wear amethyst on the left hand to receive its calm. Pair it with rose quartz for emotional healing, with selenite for a quiet mind at night, or with citrine (together they make ametrine's balance of calm and brightness).
Keep the purple
Amethyst fades in strong sun over time, so cleanse it with moonlight, smoke or sound. A full-moon windowsill is the classic way. Keep it away from perfume and sanitiser, which weaken the elastic.
Natural amethyst ranges from pale lavender to deep violet, and colour zoning in the beads is a sign it is real, not a flaw. Every piece is energised by Bhaarti Sunny Ghai before it ships. Crystals are sold as spiritual and decorative items.
